Why did Robin Hood steal from the rich?
Because the poor didn’t have any money.

How to identify 6 types of planes.
Four engines (two under each wing): It is either a Boeing 747 or a new plane in the Airbus A300 series. If it has a hump on its back, it’s a 747; if it doesn’t, it’s an Airbus. This new Airbus is also the only plane that has two rows of passenger windows running the full length of the plane.
Three engines (one under each wing and one on the tail): If it has no visible exhaust on...

ahahahaha, well he should get a cookie for creativity!
Oh yes, of course! I was quite proud of him actually! It is a huge milestone. It shows he’s developing Executive Function. It takes a lot of brain power to tell a fib. In fact, better liars have stronger cognitive abilities. Not to mention it is a...

Really! 2006 to 2010. What’d you go for?
Architecture.
One of the most useless majors in history. It’s a fancy way of milking you out of $40K a year for 5 years only to turn you into a work force that needs CAD monkeys that work 70 hour weeks and make $20K a year in Manhattan.

I’m not in NYC, but only 20 minutes north, up in Rockland County so I frequent the city a lot. Went to college in Brooklyn too so I know the area.
Oh!! You went to Pratt, I see. Me too! When were you there?
snailbane asked: Hi there! :) I love the name Atlas, I've been planning to use it forever. Names from Greek mythology are just the best.
Wondering where my fellow NYC followers are...
In putting together the Brooklyn Dad’s Guide to NYC, I started to realize that being the old man I am, my memory is such that I can’t recall who that I follow lives where. I wish there was a way to annotate users on my dashboard…
Anyway, if you are in NYC and you follow me, would you kindly reply to this post and tell me where you’re located. I’m trying to get the...

Your MP recipe is wonderful. Forget the big spoon. I would use a shovel.
Thanks! I think I’d have to agree that it is indeed shovel worthy. Not something we make on the regular, it is just too rich & fatty, but sometimes we cut loose. ;)
to-bedlam asked: I just checked out your whole blog. Gotta say, I love the Yo Gabba Gabba stuff, I wish I could find stuff like that around here for my monster.
Puzzles
Atlas loves putting puzzles together. We bought him a little set that had 3 picture puzzles each with 12 pieces to them. He has now mastered those and has now moved on to the set we bought him that has 3 puzzles with 24 pieces each. We can lay all three puzzles’ pieces out (72 pieces) in one large pile and he will proceed to put all three puzzles together one after the other.
I was...
Toilet Education
Atlas is now 2 1/2 years old and for a number of months now he’s been using the toilet, just whenever he feels like it though. We’ve never pushed the idea on him and always gave him wild encouragement whenever he showed interest. We hadn’t taken on the task to toilet training as such mostly due to the fact a friend of ours is a nanny for a Urologist and she explained it to...

What do you call a fish with no eye?
“Fsh.”

Women’s shoes are prettier & more colorful than men’s shoes, plus heels make that tap-tap sound. So, it’s no surprise kids like to play with them. People who think it’s about gender are silly (and boring).\
Exactly!

little-mama said: I love his name- it’s unique and meaningful. I have a somewhat different name and while as a child I disliked it, growing up I came to love it and wouldn’t change it for the world. I think Atlas, if he ever dislikes it, will grow to love his name too
Thank you. I hope he loves it too. There is a lot of meaning to it for us. :)

That is awesome! The Big Sky and Atlas thing is pure poetry! Genius. :)
Thank you very much. We thought ourselves rather clever too! It is just one of those things, when you’ve searched and searched and then finally the truth and beauty of it all just seems to present itself to you. Thanks for the follow...

Change is from within....
stay-at-homedadblunders:
I have been asked a few times, “How can you be okay with your 3 year old son wearing girls dress up shoes?“ The answer is simple, he’s my son.
I know that what he does now, may or may not influence who he becomes. I further know that as a father if I show ignorance, bigotry and hatred; when none should be present, I will do much more harm than good. It is my job as...

How to pick up a lobster.
You should have your kid come in behind the lobster and quickly seize him from above by that hard shell just where the lobster’s last two legs join his tail. He may want to hold him down with one hand until he can get a firm grip with the other. Tell him to expect some resistance. Lobsters are stronger than they look. By letting your kid pick up a lobster, you’re giving him an exciting...

Oooh, I like your guide to NYC blog. :) I’ll definitely being using it for future references on my random, sporadic trips to the city~
Oh cool! I’ve got A LOT of work to do on that one. Plus, the parks aren’t showing up on the maps correctly yet. I have to do those by lat. & long. instead of cross street. Hopefully...

Books for Little Rebels →
In light of my rant yesterday about how much I despise the Little Golden Books, I finally put myself into gear a little bit today and started up the other blog about Atlas’ book collection. It is called Books for Little Rebels. I set it up with an Amazon.com account and a tiny portion of any books you purchase through the links will go to further fund Atlas’ collection and thus...
